Sandra Hunnicutt Griffin began tap dancing at the age of three years old in Asheville, NC. Beale Fletcher, a hoofer from the Vaudeville era was her instructor. Sandra began dancing professionally at the age of sixteen and worked at various amusement park shows until her graduation from high school. At only eighteen years of age Sandra took and passed the tap, jazz, and acrobatic tests for Dance Masters of America and became a certified by test to teach instructor. She taught children and adult dance classes at Pats School of Dance in Hendersonville, NC until 1982. After relocating to Las Vegas, NV, she continued to teach children at the Fern Adair Dance Academy, Wonderland School of Dance and at Rainbow Dance Studio. Every Saturday morning in 1984 and 1985, she taught the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced tap classes at Backstage Studio, which was on Sahara Avenue. It was the in studio for professional dancers at the time. When Gregory Hines was in town, Sandra conducted the tap warm up for him before he taught. It is from this warm up that Sandra first thought how much fun it would be to develop a fitness cardiovascular program in tap shoes for Adults. All adults, not just the ones that grew up dancing. And now 23 years later that dream has become a reality.
